WEEK 15 REFLECTION- GROWTH IN ABILITY TO INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGY

As a teacher, I now consider myself to be at level 4 (Integration) of the LOTI framework as apposed to level 3 (Infusion) from fifteen weeks ago.  I can use various technological resources such as sequencing, recording, and educational software and implement them into a regular music class curriculum.  I can also create websites without many problems and have the ability to create online lessons for my students.  Multimedia in all forms is now in my grasp and I feel comfortable utilizing any multimedia resource in the classroom. On top of that, I feel like I can develop to the Expansion and Refinement stage very soon.  Student teaching may present me the opportunities to take my technological knowledge to the next levels of the framework.

Another part of my growth over the past fifteen weeks is that I feel that I can now lead my students to develop their own efficiency with technology.  I can transfer my knowledge of programs and the Internet to them in order to complete tasks using technological resources.  This growth as a teacher also points in the direction of being able to move up the ladder of the LOTI framework.  With expanded research and experience with technology in the coming months, I will soon have my students accessing information from around the world to help expand their knowledge of music and their knowledge of things in general.  My use of technology will expand the parameters of the normal learning scenarios present in a day-to-day to classroom.   Students will be getting more then just the general music education curriculum.  I will be able to use technology as an asset to expand my students’ learning.
